In 2009, Grupo Hacienda del Mar, (today Grupo Olmar), made the purchase of land on the beach on the coast of the Transpeninsular Highway between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, with the idea of creating a hotel complex. Grupo Hacienda del Mar, already owned Hacienda del Mar, a successful hotel also located in Los Cabos, BCS.

David Fuentes is hired to carry out a market analysis and a better use analysis. Due to market conditions during the 2008 economic crisis, the project was put on hold and reactivated in 2011, year in which an update of the market analysis was made along with a proposal to develop a high-luxury hotel with a totally differentiated concept from the existing products at that time in the Los Cabos region. Today, Solaz is one of the most prestigious hotels in the hotel zone of Los Cabos, BCS.

As an extension of the project, a vacation ownership component is developed to complement the existing offer at Hacienda del Mar, expanding the size of the market by adding a more exclusive product.
